About Siaavash

Dr Siaavash Maghami is a specialist anaesthetist who has worked in leading hospitals around the world. He did his medical school training at the University of Western Australia and completed a Bachelor of Medical Science honours research degree on burn injury healing with Prof Fiona Wood. He was also awarded an elective through Harvard Medical School at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Centre in Boston, Massachusetts.

Following this he did his internship and residency at Royal Perth Hospital and Fiona Stanley Hospital, followed by his specialist anaesthesia training at Royal Perth Hospital, Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital, Joondalup Hospital, Fiona Stanley Hospital and Bunbury Hospital. Subsequent to this, he completed subspecialty fellowships in obstetric anaesthesia at King Edward Memorial Hospital, trauma anaesthesia at Royal Perth Hospital and regional anaesthesia at the renowned University College London Hospital.

In total this process took:

  • Medical School degree - 6 years

  • Bachelor of Medical Science honours research degree - 1 year

  • Internship and residency - 5 years

  • Specialist anaesthetic training - 5 years

  • Subspecialty fellowships - 2 years

  • Total - 19 years of training

He will use all of his training and experience to keep you safe and comfortable during your surgery.

Professional Interests

Dr Maghami holds an appointment at Royal Perth Hospital as a consultant anaesthetist where he maintains an active role in teaching, education and research. Siaavash's special interests are anaesthesia for plastic surgery, orthopaedic surgery, general surgery, opthalmology and obstetrics. He regularly anaesthetises patients for:
